The water well is complete! Interesting that he made it a faucet instead of manual. I can see the pro’s and con’s, but he said people were really happy to have clean water near-by.
Check out some pictures in the AADB album.

Mr. Vilarde—I am an art teacher in McKinney, Texas and every year our entire first grade studies Africa in January and February. One of our wonderful teachers lived there for 12 years and she blesses us with her experiences, pictures, and stories. In my art class the boys make their own Kaftan shirts, and an African talking drum while the girls make their own head wrap, and African bead necklace. All of this is worn in a performance in February. If you, by chance, will be in McKinney February 16th we would love for you to attend our celebration! Your blog is wonderful!

Thank you so much for the compliment Deanna – you are quite the blessing on your students!
I wish I could be there, unfortunately I can’t. One can’t truly put into words the experience of living a country as different as Cameroon is from the US; it’s more a different feeling, taste and sound, but your colleague being able to open up young minds to a big part of the world that doesn’t get talked about, is important. (did you know that you can fit almost the whole United States in the Sahara Desert?)
